The meet will be conducted under USATF rules. In general, the rules covering open competition will be used. The only exceptions will be the throwing implement and hurdle specifications which will follow Youth Athletics which follows the High School Rules. The following is intended to summarize some of the rule items of note. This summary is not intended to replace the 2017 or 2018 USATF Competition Rule Book which will govern the competition.
200m,400m, 4x200m, 4x400m : 5-6-4-3-2-1
800m, 1500m, Mile, 3000m, 2 Miles, 5000m, 4x800m, Distance Medley Relay / Position assignment is random, per USATF rules.
Per USATF rules, starting blocks must be used in events whose distances are 400 meters or less.
FIELD EVENTS: Flight assignment by performance list: best flight last, random within the flight.TRACK EVENTS: (800m, 1500m, Mile, 3000m, 2 Mile, Relays). Heat assignment by performance list, with "fastest" heat running last.
Per USATF designation (e.g., High School Boys 39”, High School Girls 33”, etc).
The IAAF returned to the "one false start" rule in 2010. It is the same rule used by high schools. One false start disqualifies the person who committed the offense.
The 4x200 and relay will be conducted using a THREE-TURN stagger. The 4x400 relay will be conducted using a TWO-TURN stagger. The 4x800 and Distance Medley relays will use a ONE-TURN alley start.
Meet management will NOT provide batons. Relay teams are expected to supply their own batons.
The high school boys' shot put will be 12 lbs. and the weight will be 25 lbs. The College and Open Shot Put will be 16 lbs. and the weight throw 35 lbs. The high school girls' and womens' shot put will be 4 kg and the women's weight throw will be 20 lb. (See weights for various youth divisions on the Event/Event Number page). The throwing sector will be 34.92 degrees. Implement inspection will be conducted at the site of the competition beginning 2 hours prior to the scheduled start of each event.
